This is a pension attorney's "newsletter" designed to solicit
new business for the firm. It provides a little information for Civil
War veterans, stuck in between numerous sales pitches. This newsletter
dates from late 1882 or early 1883. It offers, among other services, to
help veterans pursue land claims under the Homestead Act of 1862 and even
to get compensation for horses and equipment they may have lost in the
Civil War. It is fairly typical of the sales pitches and the activities
of Civil War pension attorneys during this period. |
